STO Function
GT3000
70
IMGT30017EN
6A.6.2.2b Configuration according to category 2 EN 954-1:
The following items are required upon every single request for the safety function:
in case of power failure concerning P24EX to the "STO", terminal XM70-1, verification of the contact closing on terminals XM70-3/-4,
which indicates that pulse supply is cut-off. In case of feedback error, automatic activation of the "STO" alarm procedure. This alarm
procedure shall include the inhibition of the “STO” of terminal XM70-1 and of the DRIVE ENABLE (XM1-20), and the operating sequence
cannot be reset until the failure is removed
Warning!
The adopted monitoring technique shall identify the failures in conductors of feedback signals, or they shall be protected from short-
circuits.
6A.6.2.3 Operating limits
The following operating limits shall apply to the "STO" safety function:
Current limit on the relays’ output contacts: 3 A / 24 Vdc. The user shall install a short-circuit protection consisting of a fuse.
Minimum current – control of DRIVE ENABLE (XM1-20); 8mA.
Minimum current of RL1 control (XM70-1): 30mA.
Maximum delay time when the relays’ contacts open/close: 30ms.
Cutting-out of the short-circuit between the pair of external interconnection conductors relating to XM70-3, XM70-4 and XM1-2,
XM1-43, by a protection device according to EN 60204-1 (UNI EN ISO 13849-2, table D.4).
Other operating limits, according to the actuator manual.
6A.6.3 Interfaces between the safety function and the external control circuit
The interfaces of the safety function with the surrounding environment consist of:
controls on terminals XM1-20 and XM1-25, XM70-1 and XM70-2;
output contacts of the relays, between terminals XM1-2 and XM1-43 and terminals XM70-3 and XM70-4.
The power supply of channel 1 is external, while the one of channel 2 can be either internal or external.
Terminal box XM70 (Channel 1)
Terminal
Type
Signal Description
XM70-1
I
"STO" control (CHANNEL 1) from 24Vdc-30mA external power supply (with reference to XM70-2); the external signal must be
protected by a fuse
XM70-2
C
reference zero/"STO" control: to be connected to the reference potential of the external supply of XM70-2 and to the
equipotential circuit.
XM70-3
OR
normally closed contact of the RL1 relay (feedback of channel 1). Current limit: 3 A / 24 Vdc.
XM70-4
The user shall install:
a short-circuit protection (by a fuse);
a protection (UNI EN ISO 13849-2, table D.4) to cut-out the short-circuit between the relevant external
interconnection conductors.
Terminal box XM70 (Channel 2)
Terminal
Type
Signal Description
XM1-2
OR
Normally closed contact of the RL2 relay (feedback of channel 2). Current limit: 3 A / 24 Vdc.
XM1-43
The user shall install:
a short-circuit protection (by a fuse);
a protection (UNI EN ISO 13849-2, table D.4) to cut-out the short-circuit between the relevant external interconnection
conductors.
XM1-20
I
DRIVE ENABLE control (CHANNEL 2), 24Vdc-8mA, with reference to XM1-25.
If the internal power supply available on XM1-24 is not used, install a short-circuit protection consisting of a fuse for the external
signal.
XM1-24
OS
24Vdc-100mA internal supply, with reference to XM1-25, available for the DRIVE ENABLE control, protected by a resettable fuse
available on the SCADAP board.
XM1-25
Reference zero for the DRIVE ENABLE control: to be connected to the reference of the external power supply and also to the
equipotential circuit.
Legend:
I = signal input: reference to common;
IS/OS = power supply input/output
C = common;
OR = relay output;
6A.6.4 Basic components connected to the safety function
SAFETY RELAY
Schrack safety relay, of the "SR2M-24DC" type or equivalent, with 1NO+1NC contacts, compliant with the EN 50205
standard.
