To run a new digestion process, follow the steps below.
1.
Install
IDF
or
IDF
Flow
‐
Thru
bags.
1.1
Remove Clamp Bars A and B.
1.2
Pull the black IDF Delivery Nozzle out towards you.
1.3
Place a labeled and weighed IDF or IDF
Flow-Thru
bag up underneath the Delivery Nozzle so that the Delivery
Nozzle is inside the top part of the bag. Pull the bag up so that the top of the filter part of the IDF bag is just
below the bottom of Clamp Bar B.
Since there is no filter to line up the vertical position of an IDF
Flow-Thru
bag, pull
it up so that the top of the bag is about 35 mm above the top of Clamp Bar A.
1.4
Return the Delivery Nozzle to its original position. This will hold the back of the bag in place.
1.5
With the bag being held by the Delivery Nozzle, center it horizontally between the lines on the back part of
Clamp Bar B.
If you are installing an IDF or an IDF
Flow-Thru
bag while a precipitation process
is occurring, leave the bottom of the IDF or IDF
Flow-Thru
bag outside of the SDF
bag. When installing a new SDF bag you will have to put the bottom of the IDF or
IDF
Flow-Thru
bag inside the top of the SDF bag.
1.6
Repeat steps 1.2 – 1.5 for all six stations.
1.7
Re-install Clamp Bar B.
1.8
Press the Clamp Bar B button on the Control Panel to pinch the bag (just above the filter for IDF bags).
2.
Check
Fluid
Levels.
To ensure that you have enough fluids to run a complete IDF/SDF or TDF procedure, you must begin with fluid levels
above the Minimum Level lines on the chemical containers and at least 10 ml of each enzyme. Add fluids and enzymes as
necessary.
If a precipitation process is still running when you want to fill your chemical
containers, you should add fluids to the containers while they are connected to the
instrument. If the instrument needs fluid from a disconnected container, your
results could be impacted.
3.
Weigh
Samples.
Place 0.5
0.05 g of sample in each of six tared tins and record the weights.
4.
Add
samples
to
the
bags.
4.1
Open the top of the bag and dump the sample from a weigh tin into the bag by folding the tin and then dipping it
down into the bag below the tip of the Delivery Nozzle.
4.2
Rinse the tin with no more than 3 ml of Distilled Water to ensure complete transfer.
4.3
Repeat steps 4.1 – 4.2 for all bags that will include sample.
4.4
Re-install Clamp Bar A.
5.
Perform
the
digestion
process
using
the
ANKOM
TDF
Dietary
Fiber
Analyzer.
The Control Panel on the ANKOM
TDF
Dietary Fiber Analyzer uses Touch Screen technology. To operate the instrument
you will press identified buttons on the Touch Screen Display and buttons below the screen.
To perform the digestion process, follow the steps below.
