Installing the Switch on a Table or Desktop
This section contains the procedure for installing the switch on a table.
Note
The rubber feet on the bottom of the chassis should be left on for
table installation.
Warning
Switches should not be stacked on a table or desktop. They could
present a physical safety hazard if you need to move or replace
switches.

To install the chassis on a table, perform the following procedure:
1. Review the procedure in “Choosing a Site for the Switch” on page 84
to verify that the selected site is suitable for the unit.
2. Check to be sure that the table is strong enough to support the weight
of the switch.
3. Lift the chassis onto the table.
4. Check to be sure that all of the appropriate components are included
in the shipping container. Refer to “Unpacking the AT-x550-18XTQ or
AT-x550-18XSQ Switch” on page 85 or “Unpacking the AT-x550-
18XSPQm Switch” on page 88.
5. Install the other switches of the stack with the appropriate instructions
in this chapter and Chapter 5, “Installing the Switch on a Wall” on page
111.
6. After installing the switches, go to Chapter 6, “Building the Trunk with
Default Stacking Ports 17 and 21” on page 125 or Chapter 7, “Building
the Trunk with Optional Stacking Ports” on page 143.
