MULTI-MACHINE OPERATION
It is possible to connect up to 16 DD8s for control from a single DL1500.
TERMINATOR OFF
TERMINATOR OFF
TERMINATOR ON
The units are chained together by the AKNET BNC connector on each machine using standard
Ethernet BNC cables and ‘T’ pieces. It is essential that the TERMINATOR switch is switched to
the ON position on first and last units in the chain. Failure to do so will prevent correct commu-
nications and the system will not work..ii.AKAINET Termination;
NOTE: The AKNET interface used in the DD system is 10-Base-2 Ethernet. There are cer-
tain rules that must be adhered to when setting up the system to ensure reliable operation:
• All cables should be 50 ohm impedance.
• There should be a maximum of 185m of cable in the system between the first and last
nodes.
• There should be at least 0.5m of cable between each node.
Before the system is used for the first time, each DD8 must be assigned a unique machine
number which is used to identify it.
This is set on the AKNET INFO page which is accessed from
REMOTE page in the SYSTEM menus:
NOTE: The MACHINE NAME field can not be edited from the DD8 front panel. This can be
changed from the DL1500.
