DD8
plus Version 2.20 - September 1998
OMF IMPORT
After moving the cursor to the required OMF file, press the LOAD soft key (F6) to import the file.
The display will change to show the following screen and the progress bar at the bottom of the
screen will indicate that the file is being imported.
NOTES CONCERNING OMF IMPORT
If you are controlling the DD8 from a DL1500, you will notice that no envelopes (waveforms) are
shown on the VGA after an OMF import. This is normal as there are no envelope files on the
Macintosh disk! You can use the DL1500’s COMPILE function to copy all used audio from the
Macintosh disk to the Akai disk. During this process, envelope files will automatically be gener-
ated. Note that the PRE-READ function is driven from the envelope files, so it will not function
with projects imported from OMF files.
Some OMF files contain pre-computed (rendered) fades. If these are found while an OMF file is
being imported, you will see the following prompt which allows you to select if the pre-computed
fades are loaded as separate cues (by pressing YES), or if the fades should be replaced by real-
time fades (by pressing NO):
AVID MEDIA-COMPOSER AND AUDIOVISION
Avid Media Composer and Audiovision provide options to allow several types of OMF files to be
created. When preparing OMF files for use on the DD8, you need to select the options for OMF
Version 1 and for “OMFI Composition with audio media”. This will create an OMFI file that con-
tains the edit information as well as all copies of all of the associated audio in AIFF format within
the OMFI file.
