Troubleshooting Network
Connections
This chapter describes the following tools and procedures for troubleshooting the
ARX’s network connections:
•
Ping,
•
Traceroute,
•
TTCP,
•
tracing NSM processes,
•
packet capture, and
•
Port mirroring
The next chapter discusses tools for troubleshooting managed volumes.
Pinging an IP Address
From any mode, use the
ping
command to send an ICMP ECHO request to another
interface:
ping
ip-address
where
ip-address
(for example, 10.10.10.1) is the destination for the ping.
The ARX pings the IP address repeatedly until you stop it by pressing
<Ctrl-C>
.
Once you stop it, a report summarizes the results of the ping test.
