Net-Net 6300 Hardware Installation Guide
Version 1.0
MAINTENANCE INTRODUCTION
Power Cycling
Power Cycling the Net-Net 6300 is the process of turning the chassis off then on
from unplugging the AC power cords from the power supplies. It is imperative that
you wait at least 10 seconds between power down and power up to ensure that all
components are completely powered down before restart.
Note:
Power cycling the Net-Net 6300 without performing a
halt
operation can lead to data loss to the Storage Device. To ensure stable
operation a filesystem check will be performed on the next power up.
This check may take several minutes to complete, and should not be
interrupted.
Standby Mode for HA Nodes
When performing hardware maintenance on the Net-Net 6300, it is best to
minimize any risk of interrupting network traffic or losing data. If the Net-Net 6300
are configured as an HA node, you should only work on the Net-Net 6300 that is in
standby mode.
There are two ways to determine the HA state of each Net-Net 6300 in an HA pair.
1.
If you are in the same physical location as the Net-Net 6300 you can view the
graphic display on the front panel. The display will indicate HA state. There is
no (S) designation for an active system, but there is for a standby system.
2.
If you are not in the same physical location as the Net-Net 6300 you can use the
ACLI
show health
command. The output of this command indicates the current
HA state of the Net-Net 6300.
Once you have determined that the Net-Net 6300 due for maintenance is in standby
mode, you can continue with the appropriate procedures to replace a part.
If you need to perform maintenance on the active Net-Net 6300 you need to
manually force the two Net-Net 6300 to switch HA states. Forcing a switchover
renders the currently active Net-Net 6300 standby, and the currently standby Net-
Net 6300 will assume all traffic processing and forwarding as the active system.
Caution
This procedure is only applicable to Net-Net 6300 in an HA
deployment.
To force a Net-Net 6300 into the standby HA state:
