2 Safety
This chapter provides you with basic safety instructions and warns you against residual hazards which must
be observed in order to operate the product safely. Non-observance of the safety instructions may result in
risks to the life or health of personnel and result in environmental damage or material damage.
2.1 Designated use
The device described in these operating instructions may be used only for the purpose and in the manner
described in these operating instructions. The device is used for welding and to extract welding fumes and
dust that are generated when welding. The device can be used for extraction when welding or cutting steel
with an alloy content of nickel and chrome under 30% and for the extraction of dust classified as dust class
H12. Any other use is considered improper. Unauthorised modifications or changes to enhance the
performance are not permitted.
► Do not exceed the maximum load data specified in the documentation. Excessive loads lead to
irreparable damage.
► Do not make any constructive changes to the product.
► Do not use or store the device outdoors where it is wet.
► During welding work outdoors, use suitable protection against the weather conditions.
► Ensure that the volume flow fed back into the work area during operation does not exceed 50% of the
supply air of the installation area. In the case of natural ventilation, a supply air flow of one room
volume per hour is to be assumed. This equals a ventilation rate of 1/h (supply air flow [m³/h] = room
volume [m³] × ventilation rate [1/h]).
2.2 Responsibilities of the user
► Ensure that only qualified personnel perform work on the device or system.
Qualified personnel are:
— those who are familiar with the basic regulations on occupational safety and accident prevention;
— those who have been instructed on how to handle the device;
— those who have read and understood these operating instructions;
— those who have been trained accordingly;
— those who are able to recognize possible risks because of their special training, knowledge, and
experience.
► Keep unauthorized persons out of the work area.
Country-specific responsibilities of the user
The recirculation of filtered air can lead to health risks and is therefore prohibited in certain countries.
For example, when operating the device in France, the cleaned air must be expelled from the building.
► Observe the local work safety regulations.
WARNING
Risk of injury due to electromagnetic fields
The device can produce electromagnetic fields that could impact the proper function of cardiac
pacemakers and implanted defibrillators.
► Do not use the device if you have a pacemaker or an implanted defibrillator.
► Only use the device in industrial zones in accordance with DIN EN 61000
