External Settings
49
through 5599. If you have several different menus, or if you expect many
simultaneous sessions, you may use more numbers within this range; in
rare cases, you may need to extend the range beyond 599 (beyond 5599
in a 4-digit system).
Hunt Groups
The size of the
hunt group
extension range depends on the number of
hunt groups you want to have. For a 3-digit system, a typical extension
range is 450 through 499; for a 4-digit system, a typical range is 4950
through 4999.
External Settings
The NBX 100 defines external settings for three items:
■
ExternalKeysetPrefix
— The single digit that enables internal users
to access outside telephone lines. The three most common choices for
this digit are 8, 9, and 0, and the choice is usually based on the
installation site for NBX 100.
This parameter is used in Keyset mode only.
■
FirstAutoDiscoverExtension
— The first extension number to apply
to “auto discovered” external telephone lines. See “Using Auto
Discovery for Initial System Configuration” on page 164 for
information on the auto discovery process.
A typical extension range for external devices (including telephone
lines) is 600 through 799 in a 3-digit system and 6000 through 7999
in a 4-digit system. The first extension to apply, when auto discovering
external telephone lines, is typically 750 (7500 in a 4-digit plan).
■
DefaultAutoExtension
— The default extension the NBX 100
assigns to an external line (analog or digital) during the auto discovery
process.
The NBX 100 must direct each incoming call (on an external line) to an
extension. During the auto discovery of external lines (analog lines and
Digital Line Card channels) the NBX 100 assigns the default extension
(500) to all incoming lines. After you import the Dial Plan
configuration file, and complete the auto discovery process, you can
manually configure the extension for each analog line and each Digital
Line Card channel.
You can not change the default value (500) in the Dial Plan
configuration file.
