If you are not using the spectrophotometer for a long period of time please make sure
it is disconnected from the net and protected from dust (this way you will avoid accidents
and will extend its working-life).
Installation
The UV-Visible Zuzi Spectrophotometer consists of the spectrophotometer's main unit
and, as an option, a HP jet-printer (like HP6000). The connections between them are
shown in the following figure.
- Items (1) and (2) are electric current connection cables for equipment and printer. They
should be connected before plugging the equipment to the net, so as to avoid damages.
- Item (3) is the cable to connect the spectrophotometer to the printer. The end with a 25-
pin plug should be connected to the main unit, whereas the one with a 36-pin plug should
be connected to the printer.
Connect all the cables by firmly locking the screws (if there is any) on the plugs. Please
make sure you connect it to a power supply of AC220V 50Hz ±10%.

Note:
The spectrophotometer is a precision electronic instrument. Do plug/unplug the
cable when the instrument is switched on, otherwise it will provoke damages on the ins-
trument and the printer.
Switching on the equipment
First of all, you should check light
does not leak into sample compartment.
Then, you should turn on the power
switch of the main unit and then the
printer (2.4). The initializing page will
be displayed on the LCD (1.2). The ins-
trument starts self-checking and initiali-
zing. This process can take about 3
minutes. After initializing, the system
displays the instrument main menu.

DNA/Protein Analysis
In this mode DNA/Protein analysis can be done. There are three methods: Method 1,
Method 2 and Self-defining.
Information display and function keys
On the instrument main menu, press
(4)
key to select the DNA/Protein mode.
The main menu of quantitative measure-
ment will be displayed as shown in pic-
ture 41.
The first line on the menu is the mode
line, which shows that the current ope-
ration mode is DNA/Protein analysis.
The upper part of the operating area
shows the current measuring method
and the corresponding wavelengths
(500.0nm and 230.0nm) and the lower
part is a chart in which the measured
data are displayed.
The right part of the page is the func-
tion key indicating area, which shows

tion alternately, as shown in picture 42.
Parameter Settings
Parameter setting page (as shown in
pic. 43) can be displayed by pressing
(F1)
key on the main menu of
DNA/Protein analysis.
Press
,
keys (4.3b) to select the
measuring methods. Method 1 and
Method 2 are the system default para-
meters that can not be changed by users.
Users can set parameters according to
their requirements under the self-defi-
ning mode. After finishing all parameter
settings, press
