INTRABEAM Water Phantom Operation
• Pull the two covers of the water tank apart sideways over approx. 1/3 of
their surface.
• Loosen the screws for fixing the XRS mount in the rotary feedthrough.
• Remove the XRS mount.
• For flat or surface applicators with large diameters, it also may be neces-
sary to remove the telescope-like radiation protection rings in order to en-
able insertion of the applicators.
Contamination of the contact surfaces between the adapter plate and the ro-
tary feedthrough may result in uneven seating of the XRS 4, thus causing sig-
nificant deviations of the measured depth dose curve from the calibration file.
• Make sure that these contact surfaces are always clean.
• Once the telescope-like radiation protection rings have been removed
from flat or surface applicators with large diameters, they must be at-
tached between the applicator and the XRS mount before performing the
next step.
• Place the applicator on the XRS mount. Make sure that the applicator en-
gages properly.
• Reinsert the XRS mount with the applicator (and, where applicable, to-
gether with the telescope-like radiation protection rings) in the rotary
feedthrough. The exact position is determined by locating pins.
• Retighten the screws for fixing the XRS mount in the rotary feedthrough
securely.
• Push the two covers of the water tank completely together again so that
the water tank is hermetically sealed.
• Ensure that the telescope-like radiation rings are properly placed both in
the rotary feedthrough and on the cover and that they can perform their
function correctly.
• Insert the XRS 4 in the XRS mount.
