a. Turn the crankshaft clockw ise.

b. When piston #1 is at TDC on the com -

pression stroke, align the TDC
m ark

on the pickup coil rotor w ith

the crankcase m ating surface

NOTE:

TDC on the com pression stroke can be
found w hen the cam shaft lobes are

turned aw ay from each other.

c. M easure the valve clearance w ith a

thickness gauge

NOTE:

• If the valve clearance is incorrect,

record the m easured reading.

• M easure the valve clearance in the fol-

low ing sequence.

d. To m easure the valve clearances of

the other cylinders, starting w ith cyl-
inder #1 at TDC, turn the crankshaft
counterclockw ise as specified in the
follow ing table.
