CHECKING AND CHARGING THE BATTERY

WARNING

WARNING

Batteries generate explosive hydrogen
gas and contain electrolyte w hich is
made of poisonous and highly caustic
sulfuric acid.
Therefore, alw ays follow these preven-
tive measures:
• Wear protective eye gear w hen han-

dling or w orking near batteries.

• Charge batteries in a w ell-ventilated

area.

• Keep batteries aw ay from fire, sparks

or open flames (e.g., w elding equip-
ment, lighted cigarettes).

• DO NOT SM OKE w hen charging or

handling batteries.

• KEEP BATTERIES AND ELECTROLYTE

OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

• Avoid bodily contact w ith electrolyte

as it can cause severe burns or perma-
nent eye injury.

FIRST AID IN CASE OF BODILY CON-
TACT:
EXTERNAL
• Skin – Wash w ith w ater.
• Eyes – Flush w ith w ater for 15 minutes

and get immediate medical attention.

INTERNAL
• Drink large quantities of w ater or milk

follow ed w ith milk of magnesia,
beaten egg or vegetable oil. Get
immediate medical attention.

ACHTUNG:

CAUTION:

• This is a sealed battery. Never remove

the sealing caps because the balance
betw een cells w ill not be maintained
and battery performance w ill deterio-
rate.

• Charging time, charging amperage

and charging voltage for an M F bat-
tery are different from those of con-
ventional batteries. The M F battery
should be charged as explained in the
charging method illustrations. If the
battery is overcharged, the electrolyte
level w ill drop considerably. There-
fore, take special care w hen charging
the battery.
