4. Check:

• transm ission gear engagem ent

(each pinion gear to its respective
w heel gear)
Incorrect

Reassem ble the transm is-

sion axle assem blies.

5. Check:

• transm ission gear m ovem ent

Rough m ovem ent

→

Replace the

defective part(-s).

6. Check:

• circlips

Bends/dam age/looseness

→

Replace.

INSTALLING THE TRANSM ISSION

1. Install:

• m ain axle assem bly
• shift fork “ C”
• shift drum assem bly
• shift fork “ R”
• shift fork “ L”
• springs
• shift fork guide bars
• drive axle assem bly

NOTE:

• Carefully position the shift forks so

that they are installed correctly into the
transm ission gears.

• Install shift fork “ C” into the groove in

the 3rd and 4th pinion gear on the
m ain axle.

• Install shift fork “ L” into the groove in

the 6th w heel gear and shift fork “ R”
into the groove in the 5th w heel gear
on the drive axle.

• M ake sure that the drive axle bearing

circlip is inserted into the grooves in
the upper crankcase.

2. Check:

• transm ission

Rough m ovem ent

Repair.

NOTE:

Oil each gear, shaft, and bearing thor-
oughly.
