Chapter 2. Setting Up NP1040 NAS Server

NP1040

server supports two network ports.

NFP Setup

Assistant

will show only one of the network ports for system

administrator to setup first. To continue setting up the other
network port, system administrator must perform further setup in

NFP Storage Manager

NFP Setup Assistant

display rules are as follows:

The first time you setup the

NP1040

server,

NFP Setup

Assistant

will display the first network port of the server.

If there is a DHCP server the

IP Status

will show

DHCP

If there is no DHCP server, then the

IP Status

Unknown

•

If system administrator has already used

NFP Storage

Manager

to assign IP addresses to both network ports on

the server and made them belong to different subnets,
then

NFP Setup Assistant

will show the network port that

belongs to the same subnet with the client computer that
runs

NFP Setup Assistant

If none of the network ports in

NP1040

server belongs to

the same subnet as the client computer that runs

NFP

Setup Assistant

Network Filer Plus

will show the

first network port of the server and the
