Incline Problems
If the incline motor is making unusual noises, a brake may be stuck or the motor may
have stopped.
Check to see if the incline-limit switch has been tripped.
Ensure that the chain is not broken and has not slipped from the sprocket.
Ensure that the potentiometer is set properly.
If the elevation works but does not seem to be correct (e.g. the display reads “1%” but
the running belt seems much steeper), put the treadmill into Diagnostic Mode and follow
the calibration instructions (see Section 7).
If SPEED works but INCLINE does not elevate, enter the treadmill’s Diagnostic Mode
(see Section 7) and then try the following:
Press the DOWN incline key to make sure the treadmill is completely down.
Check LEDs 1 and 2 on the interface board. LED 1 should be ON but LED 2 should
be OFF.
If LED 1 is OFF:
-
Incline-limit switch is engaged and needs to be set to the proper lower limit
switch position.
-
Switch is defective. Contact WOODWAY Customer Service to replace the J10
bracket.
If LEDs are correct:
-
Unplug J5 connector from interface board. Press the UP incline button. LED 5
should light up (LED 4 should not).
-
Check voltage (AC) between pins 3 and 5 on J5 connector. If there is not 120
VAC present, the interface is defective. Contact WOODWAY Customer Service.
-
Check the connection between the display and interface. If the connection is
good, the display or the interface is bad (try replacing display first then try re-
placing the interface board). Contact WOODWAY Customer Service.
If the treadmill is stuck in an elevated position and will not lower, try the following:
Reset the treadmill.
-
Turn the device OFF at the main power switch and unplug the power cord
from the outlet.
-
Wait 30 seconds, plug the treadmill back in, and flip the main power switch
ON.
-
Press the ON button on the display. If the incline still does not function proper-
ly, check the diagnostics.
Put the treadmill into Diagnostic Mode (see Section 7). If now possible, lower the
treadmill completely and recalibrate to 0.0 actual grade.
Check LEDs 1 and 2 on the interface board.
-
Remove the right side cover to expose the interface board.
-
If LED 2 is OFF, the lower limit switch is engaged or is defective and will not
allow the treadmill to lower.
If the limit switch is defective, replace the J10 bracket. Contact WOODWAY Cus-
tomer Service.
If the limit switch is engaged by the cam, loosen the nut that holds the cam (be-
hind the J10 bracket) using a 7/16” wrench.
-
CAREFULLY, lower the treadmill to a level position.
-
DO NOT lower too far into the negative, as this will cause the elevation racks
to hit the frame.
-
When level, re-orient the cam to trigger the lower limit switch.
-
Calibrate the actual grade. LED 2 should now be off.
