3.4 Operation
Putting the machine into operation

Model with gasoline engine

– Place accelerator lever (J2) in a middle

position between Slow and Fast. If engine
is cold, turn choke to On; if engine is hot,
leave choke at Off.

– Start up engine with pull cord
– Set accelerator lever (J2) to the desired

engine rpm

– After 5 to 10 seconds, return choke to Off.

Model with traction

– Place gear shift lever in N position (neutral)
– Engage gear, press clutch slowly down-

wards. Select speed with gears 1-4.

– Drive forward by pressing the drive control

lever (J1) on the handlebar

– During motion, shift to the next higher

gear if necessary with the gear shift (K).
The gear ratio determines the speed.

– The gear must be shifted in single steps

because it takes place with the clutch
engaged

– On release of the drive control lever (J1),

traction ceases immediately.

Tips:

– As a general rule, do not work at maxi-

mum power

– With light dirt accumulation, the engine

can be set to half-power and cleaning
done at walking speed

– Adjust engine power and working speed

to the weight and quantity of refuse

– Avoid violent collisions of suction nozzle

and exhaust muffler with stationary ob-
jects

Model with electric motor

– Switch on main switch (H2)
– Avoid violent collisions of suction nozzle

and exhaust muffler with stationary objects

3.5 Emptying the refuse/
moist refuse bag

Caution: empty the refuse/moist refuse filter
bag only if the motor is switched off! To avo-
id injury, gloves must be worn.
– Pull out safety contact plug (D)
– Release belt fastening(A3/G11)
– Remove refuse/moist refuse filter bag to

the rear

– Unhook fixing loops
– Open zip fastener and empty bag
Assemble in the reverse order.

Tips:

– Empty refuse sack frequently or shake it

out thoroughly. A clogged bag reduces
the suction power

– Wet refuse bag can be sprayed off or

washed at 30° C

3.6 Switching off the engine/motor

Model with gasoline engine
– Set accelerator lever (J3) to STOP
– If the machine is to be shut down, park it

on level ground

– Use a wedge to prevent it from rolling

away

Model with traction

– If the machine is to be shut down, parking

brake (F) must be applied

Model with electric motor

– Switch off motor at the main switch
– If the machine is to be shut down, park it

on level ground

– Use a wedge to prevent it from rolling

away

3.7 Mounting the accessories

Suction hose (fig. R)

Unscrew nut (E1) and tilt threaded bolt to the
left. Turn suction nozzle (A5/G4) to the right
and lift out. On mounting the suction hose or
replacing the suction nozzle, proceed in the
reverse order.

Extra-wide front support cylinder (fig.Q)

For soft ground (lawns, etc.) mount the extra-
wide front support cylinder (it does not sink in
and thus maintains  more constant clearance
between the nozzle and the ground): remove
suction nozzle or suction hose. Dismantle
castor support and firmly screw front support
cylinder in place with the four screws of the
castor support.

Bag support (fig. O)

Two sliding bolts (I1) are provided on the hori-
zontal bar opposite the castor. Pressing
them towards the centre will shorten the hori-
zontal bar by the pins protruding on both
sides. The bar can then be slid between the
two galvanized metal jaws (between wheels)
and anchored in the holding straps (I2) situa-
ted therein.

Nylon brush (fig. S)

The nylon brush is screwed to the inside of
the rear edge of the suction nozzle where
matching holes are to be found. The brush
can be fixed in either of two positions with
the wingnuts.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Safety regulations

Batteries contain sulphuric acid. Do
not imbibe! Caustic. Avoid skin and
eye contact.

During battery charging there is a risk
of explosion from the hydrogen-air
mixture formed. This can cause
serious injury!

Never bring naked flames or glowing
objects near the batteries.

Avoid sparks near the batteries!

Absolutely no smoking allowed.

Maintenance-free batteries may not be
opened. It is unnecessary to top up
with distilled water.

With wet batteries, top up with distilled
water only after charging.

Do not place metal objects on the bat-
tery.

During charging, provide adequate
room ventilation and open the battery
box.

Charging shall be performed only in
charging rooms complying with VDE
051011.77.§ 9.

Switch off traction and remove key
from main switch before cleaning, ser-
vicing the machine, exchanging parts
or converting to another function.

The machine shall not be cleaned with
high pressure or steam cleaning
equipment or with a liquid jet.

Only original Wetrok accessories and
working elements shall be used.

4.2 Maintenance plan

Model with gasoline engine

The maintenance work required here should
be performed at the intervals given in the
table. They should also be a part of the sea-
sonal tuning.

Maintenance required
(Figs. M,N)

Frequency

Air untake grid

daily*

Check oil level

daily*

Fill tank

as required

Check fuel filter/exchange

as required

Service air filter
(foam rubber)

every 25 operating hours*

Oil change

every 25 operating hours

Model with electric motor

After finishing work charge the battery. Con-
nect the Wetrok battery charger. The charger
is switched on by pressing the starting but-
ton, the control lamp lights and charging
begins. The current supplied is adapted
automatically and hence no adjustment is
necessary. The charger switches off auto-
matically as soon as the batteries are fully
charged. If the charging process has to be
interrupted for any reason, the stop button is
pressed. Do not remove the cell caps during
charging. A full charge requires approx. 8-12
hours.

Checking and cleaning the batteries

Once a week all the cells should be checke
with the hydrometer before and after char-
ging and the values entered in the battery
logbook. If 30° Bé or 1.6 specific weight
should not be reached after charging, the
battery manufacturer or the licensed Wetrok
workshop should be contacted.
The batteries must be kept clean, dry and
free from dirt. Replenishment with distilled
water (the acid must cover the plates by 10
mm) may only be done after charging. Be
careful to avoid drops of acid! If the machine
is not used (holidays, etc.), the batteries
should be fully charged at the beginning and
the charge renewed at least every 4 weeks.

Wetrok charger

The Wetrok charger may be used for all
types of 24 volt battery. Through the use of
an integral charging process controller, ope-
rating errors are made impossible. The char-
ger is fully automatic and requires no manual
adjustment.

4.3 Cleaning the machine

It is advisable to clean the machine after finis-
hing work.
