4 Configuration

software

4.1

Overview

The configuration software allows you to group units into a project, configure
mappings between units in a project and store project information on disk. You will
need a cable to join a spare RS232 port on your PC to the RJ-45 connector and you
will need to install the WL Series Configuration Software on you PC. The software is
supplied on the disk packed with each unit.

The procedure for setting up your network is:



Configure a ‘project’ to hold all the system information



Configure the individual units

Load the configuration information into each module

Bench test the system

The following sections describe installation of the software and communications cable
and then describe each step in more detail.

Bench testing is highly recommended as setup and network problems are much
easier to diagnose when the units are close at hand.
