3. With the spring guide facing you, gently insert the cuvette (containing eluent) up and under
the guide, with the cap facing upward (into the holder) and a frosted side of the cuvette
facing upward (see the figure on
page 42 ).
Recommendations:
• Ensure that the cuvette contains enough liquid (3 mL) so that, when it is inserted into
the holder, you can see liquid through the aperture of the cuvette holder (that is, the
liquid completely covers the aperture).
• Because the cuvette holder is angled, use your thumb or forefinger to ensure that the
cuvette is secure in the slot and does not slide forward.
• Ensure that the cuvette does not become dislodged when you are replacing the
cuvette holder.
4. Gently guide the cuvette holder back into the flow cell assembly until the holder is securely
in position.
5. Close the door:
•
To prevent invalid subsequent chromatographic results, remove the cuvette from the
detector, and refit the empty holder after running your cuvette measurements.
• Close the door before resuming normal operation, to maintain optimum system
performance.
6. Insert a reference cuvette containing the mobile phase standard, and run a zero
measurement.
7. Replace the reference cuvette with a cuvette containing the analyte dissolved in mobile
phase, and run a sample measurement.
8. Use the functions of storage, review, subtract and review, and replay to analyze the data
obtained.
