5 WI-FI AND APP CONTROL USING
SMART DEVICES*
Using the Kobold Robot app, you can control the Kobold VR300 Robot Vacuum
Cleaner from your smartphone or tablet. The technical requirements and neces-
sary steps are explained in this chapter.

5.1 Technical requirements
To use the robot vacuum cleaner with the app, you will require the following:
WI-FI INTERNET CONNECTION
The robot vacuum cleaner supports the communication protocols
IEEE802.11 b/g/n with a 2.4 or 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi frequency band. The support-
ed encryption standards are WPA and WPA2-PSK. If you are not certain of
the standards used by your Wi-Fi and your router, contact your Internet
provider or your router manufacturer.
‘Personal hotspots’ on your smart device are not supported. In addition,
our app does not support other encryption technologies used by Wi-Fi
routers such as WEP.
If you have activated a MAC address block in your router and wish to ena-
ble the robot vacuum cleaner, you can find the MAC address (”Robot ID”)
on the type plate on the underside of the robot vacuum cleaner.
Mobile routers may lead to connection problems with the robot vacuum
cleaner in isolated cases. If in doubt, avoid the use of mobile routers.
