54 Supplying compressed air to the VBL and VAI
The compressed air supply (e.g. from a compressor) must fulfill the follow-
ing criteria:
Only use non-lubricated, condensate-free compressed air. Use a piece
of equipment to pre-treat the compressed air if required.
Working pressure range: 3 to 10 bar (44 to 145 psi).
An effective feed rate of at least 2,500 l/min.
Connecting the compressed air supply
Follow these steps to connect your VOGT compressed air device to the
compressed air supply:
1. Secure the connecting coupling using a hose connection protection
(I91 011).
Risk of compressed air containing oil entering the
material to be loosened (eg the soil)
Environmental pollution. Danger to flora and fauna.
¾
Only use non-lubricated, condensate-free com-
pressed air.
¾
If required, use a piece of equipment to pre-treat
the compressed air inside the feed line to the
VOGT compressed air device.
2. Connect the compressed air supply (e.g. a compressor) to the pneu-
matic control using a suitable hose or tube, paying particular attention
to whether the claw couplings are positioned correctly. A 1 1/2" buffer
hose (819 020) will provide the best performance.
3. Open the compressed air infeed for the compressed air supply. On
the VAI, also open the stop cock on the pneumatic control.
Choosing the operating pressure
The operating pressure is set either on the compressed air supply itself or
using a pressure gauge (Z 410) fitted between the compressed air supply
and the pneumatic control.
Basic rule:
the harder the material to be loosened, the higher the injection
pressure (up to max. 10.0 bar (145 psi)). To set the pressure: Pull the gauge
to unlock it and set it to the desired pressure by turning. Push the gauge
back in to lock it.
