Folder Synchronization using IMAP4 messaging protocol
Many email client programs support folder synchronization.* This type of communication is
used to allow a copy of every message to be stored and read on the server. It also allows
servers to synchronize the contents of their customers’ folders.
Advantages to this method include:
• No action required on the user’s part. Just log into your PC, and when you open email
your voice messages/faxes are already there waiting for you.
• Access voice and fax messages in your email box.
Conditions:
• The client PC must be able to reach the PathFinder
IP
over the network.
• The client PC’s email program must be configured to poll a second source for email—the
PathFinder
IP
.
• Voice email messages will only get downloaded into the client’s email box when the PC
client is running and able to poll the PathFinder
IP
.
•
A separate folder for voice messages is needed in the mailbox. They do not get
deposited into the main Inbox, as happens with the other two methods.
