Here is an overview of the most important components of the Telenium
IP
solution:
Call Processor
Application: Controls all call switching. This is the system’s CPU, the brain of the
operation.
Features: There are two sizes of Telenium
IP
’s Call Processor handling up to 70 or 250
stations, and they may be networked for integrated communications across as many as
70 sites. Telephony functions handled by the Call Processor include call control, built in
voice mail, basic auto attendant, music on hold, and six built-in VoIP networking/remote
service channels.
Benefits: With Telenium
IP
, basic voice mail and auto attendant functions are built into
the system. The ability to network across a WAN or VPN with six built-in networking
channels means that linking to a small regional office can often be done without
expensive expansion cards.
Networking Module
Application: Add this module to provide an additional 24 channels of external Voice over
IP communication. These can be used for networking to other systems, or remote
phones and RSGMs.
Features: The Networking Module offers the following features: IP Security (IPSec)
encryption for remote devices, transcoding between multiple codecs, conversion
between H.323 rev.3 and Telenium
IP
protocol, and DTMF detection.
Benefits: This module offers more communications features than the six included VoIP
ports in the Call Processor. IP Security provides an encrypted voice stream for devices in
remote mode. Transcoding allows calls to/from devices with dissimilar codec types. The
24 VoIP channels can be divided into line groups to allocate for networking to other

systems. This module is also needed when Nomad
VP
is used to
videoconference or file share between Local and Remote endpoints.
