Many companies employ mobility workers within a campus environment or retail location
covering a large area. In a very competitive business, instant connectivity to inside and outside
customers can be critical. Bookstores, auto dealerships, retail, warehousing, and customer
service centers are typical applications for the Nomad
IP
.
Example
A customer calls into a health food store, looking for a particular type of gluten-free pasta. “I’ll
find that out right now,” the assistant manager tells the customer, while walking to the pasta
aisle. “By the way, I’ve got a new basil sauce you should also try. Here’s my best pasta brand,
no gluten indicated in the ingredients. The price is $1.89 for a one-pound package. Shall I place
a few at the front counter for when you get here?”
Not only was the customer not placed on hold, the manager was able to talk with her the entire
time and suggest additional product. Now the customer knows she will get great service whether
she is in the store or on the phone.
For the store staff, moving through the store while talking with a customer is made convenient
by the use of an ear bud, which is included with the Nomad

phone.
Benefits
The primary benefit is better customer support resulting in additional revenue and greater
customer satisfaction. The retailer can also gain from not having fixed and mobile connectivity
within their retail location – theoretically, all users could be mobile and available at all times to
assist customers.
