Application
Road warriors and remote workers can have the full set of Telenium
IP
features from a remote
location, without the calling party even knowing they are not in the main office. As long as the
user has a connection that can access the Telenium
IP
, he will have all of the features available on
a wired Telenium
IP
phone, plus several more that can only be done on a PC-based phone.
Example
Jill is an Account Manager who telecommutes two days per week. On Monday through
Wednesday, she’s in the office and makes use of many of the features on her IP7024D phone.
On Thursday and Friday, Jill uses her home broadband Internet connection to access files and
email from work while she takes care of her clients’ orders. She uses Nomad
SP
installed on her
notebook PC and a comfortable USB headset to take calls on the company’s Telenium
IP
system.
Benefits
Reduced Clutter: Since Nomad
SP
resides on her PC, there is no need for an additional phone set
on the desk in her home office, giving Jill more space to work.
Mobility: If Jill chooses to work from another location, such as a relative’s house, she only needs
to take her notebook with her and use another broadband connection to the home office.
Flexibility: The nature of IP Telephony offers the ability for Jill to make and receive calls in a
number of ways-
a. Forward calls from her work extension to her Nomad
SP
‘s extension
b. Use Call Coverage to pick up calls for her work extension on the Nomad
SP
c. Team the Nomad
SP
with Jill’s office extension with the Linked Station feature.
Presence: If the Linked Station option is used, other parties will see only one extension when
she makes calls, regardless of which phone she is using. One contact number to reach Jill, and
no confusion about which number to call to reach her directly.
Collaboration: Because Nomad
SP
is a fully-featured Telenium
IP
phone, text messaging between
stations is available.
