IMPORTANT SAFETY RULES FOR WOODCHIPPERS
◼
The operator should be familiar with all functions of the device.
◼
Start the implement from the tractor
driver’s seat only.
◼
Persons under 18 should NEVER operate or be near the woodchipper during operation.
◼
Do not operate the Woodchipper under the influence of drugs or alcohol, as severe injury or
death could result. Consult your doctor about using this machine while taking prescription
medications.
◼
Bystanders must keep a safe distance from an operating woodchopper (5 m.)
◼
Ensure all guards and shields are secured before operating the equipment.
◼
Do not operate the device for any purpose other than what it is meant for. (See Chapter
Warranty for details.)
◼
Never open safety guards when the machine is working.
◼
Never bypass safety sensors or switches (if present).
◼
Immediately cut off the power if system parts emit smoke, unusual odor, or unusual sounds.
Otherwise, fire may start.
◼
Never leave the woodchipper unattended while it is running.
◼
Dismounting from a moving tractor could cause severe injury or death.
◼
Do not stand between the tractor and the implement during hitching.
◼
When raising and moving implements, watch for wires, trees, etc. Make sure all persons are
clear of the working area.
◼
Visually inspect the infeed bin and the flywheel before starting. Ensure that the chipper head is
clear, all the bolts are tightened, and the knives do not touch the case and the counter knife.
◼
Ensure the PTO shaft does not come apart or bottom out during the normal lifting range.
◼
Check the chip pile to see if the knives need to be serviced. Long slivers in the chip pile are one
of the best indicators of dull knives.
◼
It is NOT recommended to operate the woodchipper in temperatures below freezing. Hardened
steel (used on knives) can become brittle in temperatures below freezing and may result in
breakage.
◼
Do not modify the equipment in any way. Unauthorized modification may result in severe
injury or death and may impair the function and life of the equipment.

More Safety Tips for Safe Operation
◼
Always keep the guards and chip deflector installed properly while operating the chipper.
◼
Do not attempt alterations, repairs, or adjustments while the flywheel turns. Always disconnect
the PTO, stop the tractor’s motor, and put the keys in your pocket
before attempting any
alterations, repairs, or adjustments.
◼
Keep hands, feet, clothing, and other extremities away from the hopper (infeed bin) and any
power-driven parts. Wear snug-fitting clothing to avoid entanglement with moving parts.
◼
Do not wear loose clothing when working around the woodchipper. Personal injury can occur if
someone or something turns the flywheel over while checking the knives or adjusting the
cutter bar. The flywheel has enough residual energy to remove fingers easily.
