4.3.1 Channel (1)
A channel is a group of configuration settings used to listen to VEMCO tags. For example, a channel can
be configured to listen for continuous pingers that operate at 60 kHz. Another channel can be configured
to listen for coded tags operating at 69 kHz. There are eight channels in the VR100 receiver which means
that the receiver can monitor eight different configurations at one time.
When the Channel sub-menu is selected, the screen shown below appears so the desired channel can be
selected. Pressing the up or down arrow to the right of the screen will move the cursor through the list of
channel numbers. When the cursor is on the desired channel, press the right selection button to view or
edit the channel’s configuration.
The desired channel can also be highlighted by pressing the channel number on the keypad. For example,
press “2” on the keypad to highlight channel 2 and press the right selection button to configure the
channel.
4.3.1.1 Enable a Channel
A channel must be turned on before it can be monitored (see section 4.2). To turn a channel on, move the
cursor to the desired channel and then select “Set On” by pressing the left selection button. An asterisk
(

) below the channel number indicates that channel is on. In the screen shown above, channels 2 and 5
are on. A channel is also turned off by pressing the left selection button when the channel is highlighted.
4.3.1.2 Configure channel
A channel must be configured to monitor deployed tags. When Configure is selected in the “Configure
Channel” screen (see previous page), a summary screen shows the current configuration of the selected
channel. Edit must be selected (press the left selection button) to change the configuration of the channel.
How the channel is configured depends on the type of tag being monitored on this channel. The three
methods are Continuous pingers, Coded, and Continuous sensor (1 or 2 sensors). The steps required for
each of these are listed below.
