D4-D12 Bytes
- Data Communications Channel (DCC) – together these nine bytes form a 576 kbps message channel for OAM purposes.
- They can be used for internally or externally generated messages or BER function.
S1 Byte (Synchronization Status)
- Synchronization status message byte contains information about the quality of the embedded timing and is used to
inform the remote Multiplexer of the clock quality used to generate signals.
o Bits 1-4 carry synchronization messages
