Video Standards
Synchronization parameters of the video inputs have been optimized for operation
with cameras, yielding a low line jitter and subsequently best coded picture quality.
Video tape recorders (VCR) typically exhibit larger tolerances with respect to horizon-
tal synchronization pulses. This will usually prevent the video input from locking onto
the video signal provided by a VCR. Switching the video source parameter to VCR
will increase input locking tolerance and ensure operation with a VCR video source.
Both common video standards ’PAL’ and ’NTSC’ are automatically detected at the
video inputs. For NetCam6 even a mixed connection of PAL and NTSC cameras is
possible, with the video output following the standard of the selected video input. For
monitors supporting only a single video standard, the video output can be preset to a
particular standard, regardless of the video input. The same holds for a NetCam1 re-
ceiver, if the ’PAL’ default setting is not wanted. All output settings are ignored when
a NetCam1 sender is connected.

Interface Configuration
NetCam1 and NetCam6 have two integrated serial interfaces each, NetCamPlus has
a single serial port. The following panel shows the corresponding configuration dialog.
Interface parameters include the baudrate, parity mode and number of data and stop
bits, which are to be configured according to the requirements of the respective appli-
cation. For the modem interface, two interface modes - RS232/485 - can be selected:
RS232-mode is the default, which is set at the time of delivery.
Selecting the option ’Flip camera and modem port’ will redirect the ’Camera’-port data
stream to the ’Modem’-port and vice versa. This allows for transparent data transmis-
sions using the RS485 interface, which eventually save an external interface convert-
er for peripheral devices with RS485 interfaces, for example.
The datamode setting concerns the transparent data channel in NetCam to NetCam
connections, e.g. a NetCam sender connected to a NetCam receiver. When data-
mode ’Transparent 1’ is selected, which is the default, fully transparent data transmis-
sion between the respective ’Camera’-ports is enabled.
’Transparent 2’ mode is used in connections between two NetCam units, where a lo-
cal controller wishes to send transparent data to the other end. In the opposite direc-
tion, binary data of the remote side, entering the ’Camera’-port is transmitted as NCP-
messages over the local NCP-port (’Modem’ or ’Camera’) and vice versa. This setting
is only required in combination with controllers supporting the NCP protocol.
