Configuring the Melt Unit 

The Communication Interface can be enabled and set up in the Melter CONFIG menu.  When any of these network 
settings are changed, the Melter must have the power reset in order for the new address to take effect.  The default 
network settings are shown below.  The network settings should be changed to match your network. 

Remote Communication:

 The interface can be enabled by changing the Protocol from 

Disabled

 to 

Ethernet IP

.  The 

operation mode should also have “Local” selected, as shown below.

Configuring PLC for Ethernet/IP Communication 

Using the Correct EDS File 

Many vendor EtherNet/IP configuration tools support importing an EDS file, and then uses the contents of this file to 
correctly configure a number of internal settings. Some configuration tools, however (most notably RSLogix 5000 as 
of this writing), do not use EDS files to configure EtherNet/IP I/O connections.
