7  Taking out of service

a

 Caution!

Risk of damaging the collectors!
Collectors that are not in operation may be
damaged.

-  Ensure that a competent person takes the

solar energy system out of service.

- Take the collectors out of service for a maxi-

mum of four weeks.

- Cover the cpllectors that are not in use.
- Make sure that the cover is securely fastened.
- Dismantle the collectors when taking the

solar energy system out of service for longer
periods.

The solar energy system should not be taken out of
service. The solar energy system can be taken out of
service for a short time for repairs or maintenance
work. If the system is being taken out of service for a
longer period, the collectors must be dismantled and the
solar fluid disposed of properly.

Recycling and disposal

Both the appliance and its transport packaging are
made predominantly of recyclable raw materials.
Please observe the applicable national legal regulations.

Appliance

The appliances must not be disposed of in the house-
hold waste.
All construction materials can be recycled without re-
striction, can be separated into unmixed categories and
can be forwarded to the local recycler.

Make sure that the old units are handed over to a prop-
er disposal organisation.

Packaging

The disposal of the transport packaging is handled by
the heating engineer who installed the equipment.

Collectors

All Vaillant GmbH solar collectors comply with the re-
quirements of the German "Blue Angel" environmental
label.
In this respect we, as the manufacturer, are committed
to take back and recycle components when they have to
be disposed of after years of reliable service.

Solar fluid

Disposal
The solar fluid must de disposed of at an appropriate
waste site or waste incineration plant, for example, in
compliance with local regulations. Contact the local mu-
nicipal sanitation office or the mobile environmental
service for quantities under 100 l.

Uncleaned packaging
Uncontaminated packaging can be reused. Dispose of
packaging that cannot be cleaned in the same way as
for solar fluid.

8   Maintenance

The prerequisite for continuing operational readiness,
reliability and a long service life is that regular inspec-
tions/maintenance work are carried out on the au-
roSTEP system by the technician.
Make sure the owner understands that he must never
carry out maintenance work on his system independent-
ly. Only a recognised competent company may carry out
maintenance work.
We recommend making a maintenance agreement.
The operational reliability of the solar energy system
may be impaired, or property damage and personal inju-
ry may result, if the inspections and maintenance work
are not carried out.

The important maintenance work and the maintenance
intervals are listed in the table at the end of this chap-
ter.

e

 Danger!

Risk of fatal electric shock from touching live
connections.
Before starting any maintenance work on the
appliance, switch off the power supply at the
all-pole isolating device (e.g. fuse or power
switch) and secure it against being switched on
again.

8.1

Cleaning the internal tank

Make sure the cleaning devices and cleaning agents are
in a hygienic condition, since the cleaning work is car-
ried out in the inner tank of the cylinder within the
drinking water area.
Proceed as follows when cleaning the inner tank:
•  Switch off the power supply and drain the cylinder.
