Fig. 5.4 Solar connections on the cylinder unit
Use the compression fittings for the connection as fol-
lows:
a
Caution!
The copper pipe can become deformed if you
install the compression fittings without the
support sleeves. A leaking and damaged solar
connection would be the consequence.
Make sure you screw the compression screw
connections tightly.
Protect the solar connection from damage by
holding it when tightening it.
• Feed a support bushing (
2
) into the copper pipe (
1
) as
far as it will go.
• Slip a union nut (
3
) and a compression olive (
4
) on to
the copper pipe.
• Push the copper pipe into the threaded body (
5
) as
far as it will go and tighten the union nut in this posi-
tion.
5.3
Electrical installation
5.3.1 Regulations
The regulations of VDE and EVU must be observed dur-
ing the electrical installation.
Use standard wires for wiring.
Cross-sections of the cables:
– 230 V supply cable
(mains cable):
2.5 mm
2
– Low voltage cables
(sensor cables):
at least 0.75 mm
2
Sensor cables must be no longer than 50 m.
230 V supply cables and sensor cables must be run sep-
arately if they are longer than 10 m. As an alternative
you can use shielded cable for the sensors.
230 V supply lines must be implemented with 2.5 mm
2
cable and fastened to the base using the accompanying
cable clamps.
Do not use free terminals on the appliances as support
terminals for other wiring.
The solar cylinder unit must be installed in a dry room.
The solar cylinder unit must be connected via a fixed
connection and an all-pole isolating device having a min-
imum contact opening of 3 mm (e.g. fuses or power
switch).
5.3.2 Electrical connection
The electrical connection may be carried out only by an
approved qualified servicing company.
e
Danger!
Risk of fatal electric shock from touching live
connections.
Before working on the appliance, turn off the
power supply and secure against restart.
Danger!
The circuit board can be damaged if short
circuited through the connection leads.
For safety reasons, a max. of 30 mm of insula-
tion may be removed from the ends of wires
carrying 230 V for connection to ProE plugs. If
a greater length is stripped back, there is a risk
of short circuits to the PCB.
Danger!
Danger of damaging the PCB due to overload
An optional electric heating rod (EP) must be
installed with an additional relay or contactor
with a circuit-breaking capacity of at least
16 A. Never operate an electric heating element
without an additional external relay or contac-
tor connected to the controller.
