Removal and Replacement of Source NDP Components

Nudge and Feed Tires and Rollers

The nudge and feed tires and rollers are located near the end of the feeder
bay under the top-right cover. The rollers are identified by the round blue caps
that cover the roller barrels. Refer to Figure 1-2.

Replace the nudge and feed tires when documents no longer feed properly or
at the end of their expected life. When replacing the nudge and feed tires,
also replace the separator tire. If replacing just the tires does not correct
document feeding problems, you may need to replace the rollers. There is a
clutch in each roller, which may become worn.

Normal expected tire life is 250,000 documents. The number of documents
processed is logged by a document counter in the Source NDP unit, and is
accessed from the host PC. For a document count, ask your site
administrator.

Replacement kits with nudge, feed, and separator tires only are available from
Unisys Direct (item number 75-0306-904). Unisys Direct also has replacement
kits with tires mounted and ready to install (item number 75-0307-902).

Follow these steps to remove and replace the nudge or feed components:

1. Remove the top-right cover. Refer to Figure 5-3.

2. Hold the roller with one hand, and rotate the blue cap with the other hand

in the direction of the arrow. Refer to Figure 5-26.
