Installation
In case debris enters into the sprinkler, the sprinkler can be damaged and the
installer can be hurt. Therefore flush the piping of both air and debris
thoroughly before connecting the sprinkler to the water
supply
.
Unexpected activation of the sprinkler can lead to severe injuries, therefore
please ensure the assembly is complete before the water supply is turned on.
1.
The M-‐160 sprinkler inlet has 2-‐1/2” NPT threads
2.
For a proper seal, use Teflon tape only. Avoid using Teflon paste and/or pipe dope.
3.
Install the M-‐160 sprinkler per the irrigation installation details with the
corresponding ductile iron swing joint assembly.
4.
For cold-‐weather climates, consider an automatic drain valve.
5.
Flush the irrigation mainline and sub-‐laterals before inserting the nozzle assembly.
Orient the nozzle assembly so the main nozzle is vertical as shown in Figure 5-‐1.
6.
A molded arrow indicates the direction of the main and lower nozzles. This
indicator shall be pointed in towards the field. See Figure 6-‐1.
7.
Adjust sprinkler arc pattern as needed.
8.
Locate a large round brass nozzle on the side of the internal drive assembly. This
knob can be turned counter-‐clockwise to slow-‐down the sprinkler head rotation to
the point were the sprinkler will sit in one position. The default factory setting is
full speed that takes about 60 seconds for half arc pattern to complete.
