To remove the riser pipe from the upper sprinkler subassembly, first heat the brass
riser pipe to approximately 572
0
F then using a pipe wrench unthread, see Figure
13-‐1.

7.2.1 Changing the Grooved Ring
If the bearing within the sprinkler is leaking, the grooved ring will require replacement. To
change the grooved ring, the dirt rejection ring has to be removed, see Figure 13-‐2.
