1. Before Use

If it has been 1 year or more since calibration was last performed by a Topcon factory, a

screen recommending maintenance is displayed before calibration is executed.

When BM-5A is selected at communication format, BM-5AC becomes a remote mode after

the power is turned ON. BM-5AC cannot be used in a local mode.

To turn the power OFF, flip the power switch to the right.

1.4 Maintenance Recommended Message

To maintain the measurement accuracy of this instrument, we recommend performing calibration
and maintenance once a year. After purchasing the instrument, or after 1 year has elapsed since
calibration was last performed by the Topcon factory, the following message is displayed when
the power is turned ON to indicate that it is time to perform calibration.

This message is displayed and a buzzer sounds until the RUN key is pressed, then the display
advances to the next screen.
To disable display of this message, set the maintenance recommended message setting to OFF.
