Data Communication Bus Search
After the Start-Up screen is left automatically or the General Settings Menu has been left by pushing the ac-
knowledge button, the TCD 01 starts searching the RS 485 communication bus for connected TC 816 heat
tracing temperature controllers.

As shown in figure 4.5 a RS 485 data communication bus with up to 30 controllers can be hosted by the TCD
01. Therefore up to 480 (16 x 30) heat tracing circuits can be connected to one TCD 01 tracing control dis-
play.
Every controller is listed by its set communication address. When a controller is detected it is automatically
checked for what kind of control concept the controller is configured and for how many circuits.
The display shows next to the 30 possible communication addresses:
