Cleaning the Spray Cone and O-ring
1. Soak the lint-free tissues or chamois-tipped swabs in a 50:50 solution of methanol/water,
and then clean the exterior surface of the spray cone.
2. (TSQ Quantis and TSQ Fortis) Remove and inspect the O-ring located in the spray cone
under the entrance end of the ion transfer tube ( Figure 57 ).

7. (TSQ Quantis and TSQ Fortis) Clean the O-ring with a wipe with methanol or replace
the O-ring, if necessary.
8. Using a magnification device, inspect the components for any residual lint or particulates.
9. (TSQ Quantis and TSQ Fortis) Reinstall the O-ring in the spray cone.
Note The TSQ Altis does not have an O-ring behind its ion transfer tube.

Note Inspect the inside surfaces and edges for the presence of lint or particulates. If
present, use plastic tweezers or a similar tool to remove them.
