BRILLANTE 1+1 backup in brief
Fail-over switching
When main BRILLANTE fails the backup will take main
BRILLANTE’s tasks. In every case backup will try to connect
to the main BRILLANTE and close all significant processes.
Also eth0 will be disabled on main. Then backup enables eth0
and DIVISI switches ATM to backup. EMMG will reconnect to
the backup BRILLANTE, because backup uses MAC spoofing.
Backup BRILLANTE will re-establish connections to ECMGs
and normal operation condition is resumed. Few errors might
occur on switch over during next CP.
Configuration
BRILLANTE 1+1 backup configuration on main & backup
BRILLANTE differs slightly from the stand-alone
configuration. In both devices Ethernet interface eth0 is
disabled on boot. Also eth0 IP is the same on both devices.
Eth1 interfaces should be in different network than eth0. Hub is
not mandatory, eth1 can be connected together also with a
crossover cable. Hub is useful when setting up the system. User
can get an SSH connection to both BRILLANTEs at the same
time.
A route to DIVISI has to be added to the
static-routes
-file
so that BRILLANTE is able to switch the ATM to backup
interface.
