TLA700 Series Logic Analyzer Installation Manual

Installing the TPI or PPI Remote Operation Software

The TPI client software and the PPI client software are software packages that
allow you to remotely control the logic analyzer or pattern generator from a PC.
These software packages are located on Disc 1 of the TLA application software
set. You must ensure that the version of the TPI and PPI client software is the
same as that of TLA and pattern generator application on your logic analyzer.

NOTE

. TPI and TPI.NET are two separate programmatic interfaces to the TLA

software. Controlling the TLA instruments with the TPI.NET software from a
PC, does not require the installation of any additional software. For information
on setting up and running the TPI.NET software on your PC, refer to the
TPI.NET Instructions on the TLA Documentation CD.

Complete the following steps to update the TPI and PPI client software packages
on your PC. If you have an older version already installed on your PC, the
program will automatically detect it and replace it during the upgrade process.

1.

Install Disc 1 of the Tektronix Logic Analyzer Family Application Software
in the CD-ROM drive of the PC.

2.

Click Run in the Windows Start menu to display the Run dialog box.

3.

To install the TPI client software, enter D:\TPI Client SW\Setup.exe in the
Run dialog box.

4.

To install the PPI client software, enter D:\PPI Client SW\Setup.exe in the
Run dialog box.

5.

Click OK to perform the installation. Follow any on-screen instructions.

6.

If you have an earlier version of either software package installed on your
PC, the Setup.exe program will uninstall the application before installing the
new version. If you are prompted for permission to remove unused shared
files or any read-only files, select Yes to All.

NOTE

. You may also want to refer to the TPI or PPI online help for configura-

tion instructions for the TPI and PPI client software.
