12.4.2 Instrument
Accuracy
The accuracy of the instrument can be checked using different absorbance level
neutral density filters and a reference spectrophotometer.
The reference spectrophotometer should be specified higher by the factor 10, at
least by the factor 2, than the Absorbance Reader.
Measure the absorbance of the filters using both the instrument and the
spectrophotometer at different wavelengths and compare the results obtained.
Make sure that the instrument is using the accuracy measurement mode.
Example for a standard instrument
The inaccuracy using a standard filter should not be greater than:
at 492 nm, 0.000 - 2.000 Abs.: +/- 1.0 % and +/- 0.010 Abs.
at 492 nm, 2.001 - 3.000 Abs.: +/- 1.0 % and +/- 0.010 Abs.
Example
The following neutral density filters were measured at 405 and 492 nm
wavelengths.
Filters used 0.451, 1.199, 1.586 Abs.
