Configuring nodes and interfaces
Configuring appliance nodes
Network Options tab of the Add 7100 Series Node or Edit 7100 Series Node
dialog boxes.
Node Options tab fields
The following fields are available on the Node Options tab when adding a 7100
Series node. All except Model and Node Number are available when editing a
node.
Table 8-1
provides detailed information about each field.
Table 8-1
Node Options tab fields
Field
Description
Model
The appliance model number is required when adding a 7100
Series node. It can be 7120, 7160, or 7161. It is not editable on an
existing node.
Name
The name you enter appears in your topology on the Devices tab.
This is a required field.
Customer ID
The Customer ID field is optional. You can use it for a
descriptive label. The value is inherited by this node’s
monitoring interface objects, unless you edit those Customer ID
fields individually.
IP
The management IP address of the node. It is used for
synchronization and communication between the master and
slave nodes. On a master node it is also used to connect to the
Network Security console. This is a required field.
If you change this field on a master node, you must reboot the
node and restart the console. You don’t need to do any
additional configuration to the slaves in the cluster.
If you change this field on a slave node, you must reboot it. No
extra configuration in the master node is required.
Node Number
Each node has a unique number between 1 and 120. Master
nodes added by the installation process are normally number 1.
The node number cannot be changed, even if a slave node is
later promoted to be the new master. This is a required field.
Monitoring Group
The name of the monitoring group to which this node belongs. A
monitoring group is all, or a subset, of the nodes in the cluster.
Monitoring groups can be created by superusers or admins. The
console display can be filtered to show only the incidents from
selected monitoring groups. See the
Symantec Network Security
Administration Guide
for more information.
