SECTION 3

System Setup

The basic Interview Room System system includes an ALI-QVR5016H Alibi HD-TVI digital video recorder, an HD-TVI 1080p high
definition cameras, an audio microphone and base unit system, and a Record/Standby switch.

3.1 Install the recorder hardware

Installing the recorder hardware includes the ALI-QVR5016H HD-TVI recorder, the ALI-L22W monitor, UPS-1000 battery backup
unit. When installing this equipment, refer to the

ALI-QVR5016H 16-Channel HD-TVI Digital Video Recorder Quick Setup

Guide

and other documentation provided with the monitor and UPS for more information.

1.

Place the ALI-QVR50016H unit in a secure location that is within cable distance to the interview room(s) you are monitoring,
and in a location that has restricted access. Using the cables provide:

Cable between the recorder and the camera is 50 feet. (Longer cables are available. If using the ALI-TS2012VR camera
provided, the cable length can be up to 1600 feet.)

—

Cable between the recorder and the switch is 100 feet.

2.

Plug the mouse provided with the recorder to either the USB port on the recorder front panel or back panel

3.

Position the monitor in an appropriate viewing position and connect it to the recorder using either the VGA or HDMI
interface. The HDMI connection provides the best performance.

4.

Place the UPS-1000 near the recorder, and then connect power cables from the recorder and monitor to it. Plug the UPS into
a standard, grounded electrical outlet.

NOTE

:

Do

not

power on the recorder or monitor at this time. The power switch on

the recorder is located on the back panel near the power plug.

5.

If the recorder will be accessible across a local LAN, connect it to a LAN drop cable at this time.

3.2 Install the ALI-TS2012VR camera

When performing the following instructions, refer to the

AALI-TS1012R HD-TVI 2MP Indoor Dome Camera Quick Installation

Guide

provided with your camera for additional information.

1.

Mount ALI-TS2012VR cameras in the interview room in accordance with the mounting guidelines provided in the installation
instructions. Ensure that the camera location will provide the best field of view of both the interviewer(s) and those being
interviewed. Note that the camera module is mounted on an internal gimbal to adjust it’s direction, and has zoom and focus
controls.

2.

Route the RG59S50 video and power extension cables between the camera and the recorder. Notice that the power
connectors are different at the ends of the cable. Ensure that the power connector on the camera end of the cable will mate
with the power connector on the camera drop cable.
