3.25 Frequency Reference
3.25.1 Frequency reference input port
《
10MHz Ref In
》
:
The port is provided on rear panel, the
external clock signal can be input to synchronize this instrument with other devices, or the
external clock with higher precision can be used to further improve the accuracy of output
frequency. The clock input port adopts ac coupling mode of transformer, and there is no common
ground terminal with other ports of the instrument.
When there is an external clock access, and the clock frequency is within the range that can be
locked, the prompt message of ‘external clock access’ is displayed, and ‘Ext Ref On’ is displayed
in the state information display area. The instrument automatically switches to the external clock.
The prompt message ‘the external clock is invalid, please move the excluded clock’ displayed if
the external clock frequency is beyond the range that can be locked. At the same time, ‘Ext Ref In’
is displayed in the status information display area, and the device will automatically switch to the
internal clock. If the external clock is not removed, the instrument will frequently detect whether
the external clock can be locked, which will make the frequency of output signal unstable, so the
external clock needs to be removed.
If the external clock is disconnected, prompt ‘external clock removal’ is displayed. The state
information display area no longer displays information related to the external clock, and the
instrument will automatically switch to the internal clock.
