Battery Charge System - Fault Finding
The icon will be showing on the DSE 3110 display screen when the generator is running if it detects a
12V charging issue.
Remove the main canopy door from the generator. On the left
hand side of the set you will find the DC relays and the
Charge
Regulator
-

.
Reference will be made to the DC wiring diagram(s) contained within this handbook.
Remove white wires No.26 & 27 from the charge regulator. Start and run the generator/engine and using a
multi-meter measure the AC voltage between these wires, not at the regulator. You should measure around
38V AC.
MCB & RCD
● Check the MCB & RCD are switched on (up).
AC Socket Outlet
● Check for any loose or broken wires in the
panel mounted socket.
If no AC voltage can be measured from No.26 & No.27 then this could indicate that the dynamo stator
winding has failed or there is an issue with the wiring between the stator and the charge regulator.
If AC voltage can be measured, this would indicate that the engine dynamo stator winding and wiring are
good - continue with the next check/test.
Locate the Dynamo Stator - 2x Green/White wires can be found under the starter motor. Wire No.26 &
No.27 should be connected to them. Check the connections.
Check that the charge regulator body is/has a link wire to ground. The Charge regulator will not operate
unless it has a reference to ground.
Control Panel
● Check for any loose or broken AC wires
behind the control panel.
