TROUBLESHOOTING

4. POOR IMAGE QUALITY

Caution:

The following troubleshooting procedure assumes that the MCU PWB is operating normally.
However, test print mode can easily be used to determine whether it is the MCU PWB or the printer
which is malfunctioning.
•   If printing is normal in the test print mode 

→

 the MCU PWB is malfunctioning.

•   If printing is not normal in the test print mode 

→

 the printer is malfunctioning.

In order to execute these troubleshooting procedures efficiently when the quality of the image is poor, use A4-size
paper to pinpoint the cause of the problem accurately. Then, refer to the tables showing the various image quality
problems and take the appropriate measures.
If the problem cannot be solved using the methods in the tables which show various examples of poor image
quality, try replacing, one by one, the parts listed under “Principle Parts to be Checked” in “Initial Check”. In
addition, use the “Maintenance Guide” in Chapter 4 for more troubleshooting procedures.

The Poor Image Quality Tables are divided into the following 15 problems:
