6. Burst Pacing
You can use the Burst Pacing function to terminate an arrhythmia.
From the Burst Pacing window you can adjust the following parameters:

Burst Pacing Instructions
To deliver burst pacing:
1. Select the radio button indicating the chamber you wish to examine (Atrium or Right Ven-
tricle).
2. Select the S1S1 parameter to select the burst pacing interval.
- Select the S1S1 button to open the parameter selection window.
- Select the + and - buttons to increment and decrement the setting.
3. Select the
Ventricular Support Rate (VOO)
settings.
The Pulse Amplitude and Pulse Width settings selected for Burst Pacing are temporary settings.
When Burst Pacing is completed, the Merlin™ PSA restores the original Pulse Amplitude and Pulse
Width settings.
4. Select the Enable Burst button.
5. Press and hold the Hold to Apply Burst button to deliver burst pacing.
Burst markers (STIM) are shown on the Rhythm Display. The timer starts counting and continues
counting until you release the Hold to Apply Burst button. If you hold the button for more than
20 seconds, the Burst Pacing automatically ends.
6. Release the Hold to Apply Burst button to end the burst pacing.
WARNING
Always have a separate standby external defibrillator
immediately available.
Burst pacing should be performed only by physicians trained
in tachycardia induction and reversion protocols.
Note
Burst Pacing is not available in the Left Ventricle.
