10.2.1.1.
Checking oil level on the main screen
The main screen shows a bar, which represents the oil level. However, checking the oil level this way
is only reliable with an oil temperature above 55 °C.
Is the temperature of 55 °C only just reached, let the engine run for 8 minutes before reading the oil
level (see
§ 3.9.2.5. Main screen: Regeneration screen)
.
Top up oil, if necessary (see
§ 10.2.2. Topping up oil diesel engine truck
).
At a temperature lower than 55 °C or in case of doubt, it is recommended to check the oil level by
means of a dipstick.
10.2.1.2.
Checking oil level by means of a dipstick
The oil level can also be checked by means of a dipstick.
Checking the oil level using the dipstick, must be carried out as follows:
1. Open the cover of the left-hand engine cowling;
2. Take the dipstick (
) out of the holder at the left-hand side of the cabinet;
3. Clean the dipstick using a clean lint-free cloth;
4. Insert the dipstick fully back into the holder and take it out again;
5. Check if the oil level is between
Min
and
Max
);
6. Mount the dipstick back into the holder;
7. Top up oil, if necessary, using
filler neck

8. Close the cover of the engine cowling (see
CONDITIONS
•
The vehicle must stand on a flat horizontal surface;
•
Last time the engine was running, it must have reached an oil temperature of
at least 80 °C;
•
The waiting period (ignition off) must be at least 15 minutes since the last
engine stop, so the oil can run down the crankcase.
