In- and Output Calibration
Adding, Editing and Deleting Calibration Points
After the initial calibration procedures, a performance check of the RAI
system may reveal that the required calibration accuracy is not yet
attained over the entire rudder angle range.
This may happen especially if the feedback lever linkage is poorly
aligned or the feedback unit’s shaft runs not exactly parallel to the rud-
der stock. It will then be required to set additional input calibration
points or to alter the existing ones.
To add input calibration points:
1.
If not already connected, connect to the RAC with SUSI and enter the
RAC application’s calibration page.
2. Put the rudder to the required angle.
3. Read the exact rudder angle from the rudder stock scale and enter it
in the input calibration rudder angle control.
4. Click
to add the new calibration point.
5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 above to set further additional calibration points,
if necessary. In total, up to 73 points may be entered.
6. Click
to write back the calibration settings to the RAC and
quit the calibration page.
To add output calibration points:
1.
If not already connected, connect to the RAC with SUSI and enter the
RAC application’s calibration page.
2. Enter the desired true rudder angle in the output calibration rudder
angle control.
3. At each RAI, read the actual rudder angle indication and adjust the
corresponding output slider in SUSI to bring the RAI’s indication to
the exact value entered in the output rudder angle control.
4. Click
to add the new calibration point.
5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 above to set further additional calibration points,
if required. In total, up to 73 points may be entered.
6. Click
to write back the calibration settings to the RAC and
quit the calibration page.
Note
Once a calibration point has been set, the rudder angle stored for this
point cannot be edited.
Instead, an existing calibration point can be overwritten by adding a new
point at exactly the same rudder angle. However, it is recommended to
always delete an existing point first, before adding a new point at the
same or nearly the same rudder angle.
