3.2 Alarm Numbers
If the RAC is configured to transmit the $--ALR sentence according to
IEC 61162 (NMEA 0183), the type of an active alarm may be determined
in more detail from the alarm number and description text contained in
the sentences transmitted.

Note Currently, $--ALR sentences are only generated in case of data I/O errors.
If the RAC exhibits malfunction without generating a corresponding
$--ALR sentence, contact Sperry Marine Service (Net) for troubleshooting
assistance.
